New 2013 TV Shows You MUST Check Out!

2013 – the year the Mayans thought we would not live to see. But we did! So now it’s time to profit and experience the best TV shows out there! This year there are a lot of new shows that will definitely become crowd favorites. Here’s a list of my personal favorite ones.

1.     Orphan Black
OH.MY.GOODNESS. This show is so amazing!!! It’s so incredible that I can’t find a good enough adjective to describe this show. It’s a mix between drama and sci-fi/fantasy. The story starts off from the point of view of British foster kid Sarah Manning who later finds out that she is the product of an illegal, cloning experiment as well as eight others. It might sound a little bit boring and blah to those of you who don’t like sci-fi but trust me. It’s amazing!
The only bad thing about this show is that so far there are only 10 episodes and the second season will begin around April 2014. How do they expect me to live my life without Orphan Black for that long?! I feel incomplete...

2.     Twisted
ABC Family, you’ve done it again! You have come up with another brilliant show (after Pretty Little Liars, of course).
At ten years of age, Danny Desai strangles his aunt with a red jump rope. The series starts off five years later, when Danny is released from juvenile camp. Everyone excludes him and makes the situation even more awkward except for one of his old two girl best friends, Jo and her friend Rico. Even his other best friend Lacey feels like he’s a danger to the town.
The night of his return, he gets invited to a party. The next morning, the housemaid finds the corpse of the host. Since he is an easy target, Danny is named the only suspect. The bad part is there are some pretty strong leads. Is he guilty? What did his aunt do that made him have to kill her? You’ll have to watch to find out.

3.     Orange Is The New Black
Piper Chapman is a newbie at an all female prison. And what happens when so many different types of women are stuck together everyday? Actually, the question is what DOESN’T happen?! Tune in to watch the hilarious adventure of Chapman as she gets starved, bullied, hit on and more.
4.     Bonus : The Originals
For all of you Vampire Diaries fans out there, here’s another show to satisfy your thirst for some vampire action. This spin-off of the original show will focus on the Originals and more specifically Klaus (my favorite!) as he returns back to New Orleans.
Honestly, I haven’t watched this show yet but I’ve heard some good feedback.

If you guys have any suggestions for 2012-2013 shows that I should check out, please feel free to leave  a comment in the comments section below!

2013 Teen Choice Awards Recap

If I'm perfectly honestly, I feel that award shows are starting to become boring. They're so repetitive and none of the hosts are trying to come up with original ideas to keep the people entertained. Also, some award presenters (*cough cough* Liam Hemsworth) are so unenthusiastic.

I'm a big fan of Lucy Hale on "Pretty Little Liars" and Darren Criss on "Glee" (Klaine!) but I just felt that they didn't bring their A game... They didn't make any jokes and the Gleeks vs. the PLLiars was just plain awkward. They were NOT prepared. They were charming but were definitely not as good as Rebel Wilson or Ellen DeGeneres. Okay, I'll cut them some slack and acknowledge the fact that neither Hale or Criss are comedians. But still...

One thing I was glad about was that Justin Bieber did not make an appearance on the show (even though he did win three awards... sigh) and did not give a lame acceptance speech. Although I do appreciate all of the charity work he has done, Justin Bieber is definitely someone who needs to stop being famous. It's messing with his head and blowing up his ego.

I'm not a Directioner but I did think that Harry Styles looked absolutely amazing while singing "Best Song Ever". Other things I liked about the show were Harry Styles' twerking skills, the Paramore performance, Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech, Bruno Mars' R&B video and obviously Lea Michele's speech on Cory Monteith. She is so adorable and just seeing her made me tear up a little. RIP Cory, you will always be loved.

When we come to the Red Carpet Fashion, I just have one question. What in the world were Bella Thorne and Hailee Steinfeld wearing?! Someone needs to get them a mirror and a stylist. ASAP!

I honestly don't have any other opinions on the show...

Let's just hope that the 2013 MTV VMA's will be better.

P.S. Ellen DeGeneres confirms that she will be hosting the 2014 Academy Awards! YES!!!

"The Great Gatsby" Review

"I knew it was a great mistake for a man like me to fall in love..." - Jay Gatsby

Oh my... I feel speechless. This movie was simply divine.

Although it did receive some negative remarks from the Fitzgerald fans, one must be heartless not to feel for the tradgic love between Gatsby and Daisy and simply bonkers to not be in awe of the marvelous, luxurious, rich party life of the ‘20’s that is so well represented in this movie!
Every single little aspect of this production was magestic. The costumes were perfect for the era the story was set in. The soundtrack emphasized the luxury that Gatsby portrayed as well as his deep sorrow (I would especially like to point out “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey, which is actually a favorite of mine. The song represents the storyline so well). The casting was superb (Leonardo DiCaprio’s charm and poise with Carey Mulligan’s sweet yet not so innocent after all looks). The decor, the props, the lighting, the hair and make up – everything. Everything just came together. All of it just fit together like the pieces of puzzle to show us the lust for money, luxurious things, liquors and parties of the people then.

On a more personal note, I did feel bad for Nick Carraway all the way through the movie. With Tom Bucahnan and his mistress, Gatsby and Daisy, he was just all alone forced to follow Gatsby and Daisy around.

That brings me to another subject. Daisy. I don’t want to give the ending away but I was so disappointed in her. I was utterly flabberghasted at how selfish, careless and self absorbed she became at the end. It disgusted me. After all that Gatsby had done just for her, she didn’t even have the decency to pick up a phone. I just can’t understand why. It made me so happy to see the two of them sitting on Nick’s couch just smiling and I was just so emotional when they were at Gatsby’s castle of a house and he was just throwing around his shirts and they were just so happy. But she threw it all away.

But anyway, enough with my blabbering.

The last thing I’ll say is that you simply MUST watch “The Great Gatsby”. I assure  you, it will be two hours well spent.
